E1 | The Promise | Lily & Branchey at Christmas
Updated: Dec 20, 2020
What is a promise?
What was the promise that Branchey made and did he keep it?
How many promises did Jesus keep from the Old Testament?
How old were those promises?
What were those promises about?
Why are those promises important to us now?
Family Bible Time
We will be looking at the Christmas Story in four different parts. This week, we will be looking at how the Angel came to Mary to tell her that she was to give birth to the Messiah, the one who was promised to come and save the world. Read together Luke 1:26-55. Look carefully at Mary's Song of Praise in verses 46 to 55. In verse 55, Mary says that God has kept his promise.
He has always remembered to be kind. to Abraham and his children down through the years. He has done it just as he promised to our people of long ago.
Then, look up one of the many promises from the Old Testament in Micah 5:2-5. Use this printout below to work through it together. Try to find some of the promises made about Jesus, especially the promise that relates to what we celebrate at Christmas--His birth. Simply right click on the image below and select print. Then work together to color the words and find the promises.
Work together to make a paper chain that can hang somewhere in your house where everyone can see it. If you start today, you will need 19 strips of paper. On each of the strip of paper which make the paper chain, write one of these scripture references. Or, you can simply print these pages out and cut them to be the strips of paper for your chain.
Each day, as you count down to Christmas Day, read one of the promises that Jesus fulfilled when He came to this earth. May your family's heart be reminded of the importance of Jesus as you count down to Christmas this year.
Pray & Worship
Pray together and thank Jesus for willingly coming to earth to save us from our sin. Use the worship songs throughout the week to learn the passages of scripture from this week's lesson. God keeps His promises and every one is yes in Christ.
