E2 | The Life | Lily & Branchey
John 15 Rap
“I am the vine. You are the branches. If you remain joined to me, and I to you, you will bear a lot of fruit. You can’t do anything without me. If you don’t remain joined to me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and dries up. Branches like those are picked up. They are thrown into the fire and burned.
What did Branchey’s cousin say about the vine?
Why did Lily say we can trust the Bible? Do you and why?
Read John 15:5 - Who is the true vine?
Who are the branches?
What can we do without Jesus?
Read John 15:6 What happens to a branch that doesn’t stay joined to the vine?
What is sin?
Can you be a part of the Jesus vine if you have a heart full of sin? Why not?
What did Jesus do to join us to the vine?
Can we be a good enough person to be given life forever with Jesus?
Have you ever asked Jesus to clean your heart of sin and give you life forever with him?
Watching Plants Dry
If you have a plant or tree at home, cut off a branch or flower from that plant. Talk about what will happen to that branch if it is not connected to the plant. Each day, come back to that cut off branch and watch as it dries up. Use this as a way to talk about how sin leads to death and eternal separation from God when we die. Then, talk about how the other branches or flowers will continue to grow because they are connected to the plant. Use this as a way to talk about how when we accept the gift of life from Jesus, we can grow and grow until we go to heaven to be with Him someday.
Try to create the crucifixion scene. Use a blank piece of paper and glue colored strips of paper onto the base piece of paper. Then cut out a semi-circle of paper and three crosses. Place the semi-circle at the bottom of the paper and the three crosses on the semi-circle.
Jesus is Alive...in 3D!
Next use paper, cardboard, or play dough to create a 3D empty tomb. Celebrate that Jesus is alive and we can be joined to the vine because He died and rose again!
Take a photo of your child’s work and e-mail it to firstname.lastname@example.org We would love to post pictures of their artwork on the website!
